The halfway point of the Christmas Market in Gdańsk brought the results of two competitions: the Christmas Treasury of Ideas and the Grand Prix. In both, the best in two categories were honored - the votes of the fair visitors and the jury decided. Both took place for the first time in the history of the Christmas Market. The vibrant Christmas Market in Gdańsk has more than just culinary hits. These are also among the exhibitors with crafts and regional products. Which of them liked the most among visitors to the Fair, especially the Armory of Art, where the Christmas Treasury of Ideas is located?
A practical and elegant gift
Visitors voted for the best gift inspiration in a display case in the Armory called the Christmas Treasury of Ideas. All you had to do was scan the QR code and vote in the survey for the item you liked the most. Thanks to this, a ranking was created, which allowed for the awarding of two distinctions and the main prize.
Pierwsze miejsce, czyli największą liczbę głosów, otrzymał ręcznie wykonany portfel skórzany firmy Vericone, którą reprezentowała Anna Rasmus. Jak widać odwiedzający docenili prezent praktyczny
i elegancki.
The distinctions were awarded for: a necklace with an owl presented by Gutowska Jewelry, and for an embroidered pillow inspired by the Gdańsk Lady of the Window, presented by Biały Kot.
Voting for the best Christmas inspiration was also accompanied by a competition for a slogan inviting to next year's Christmas Market in Gdańsk. The Fair Jury was delighted with the slogan: "Have fun with us with your whole families." Its author is Paula Błajet.
The fair's Grand Prix also in winter
For over 20 years, during the summer St. Fair. Dominika, the organizers award the exhibitors with the Grand Prix award. This year, for the first time, the same thing was done during the winter Christmas Market. Grand Prix awards were granted in two categories:
The Competition Committee decided to award both the main prize and two distinctions in each category.
The Grand Prix in the Good Idea category went to Glassware Art Studio Przemysław Huras for making glass-blown and hand-painted baubles using the traditional method.
Honorable mentions went to Bartłomiej Siedlikowski for fruit and Christmas scented decorations and Ivan Korchevny for hand-painted lanterns.
In the Good Taste category, the Grand Prix went to MANAT Mirosław Liss for Kashubian fish delicacies. The following were honored with distinctions: Pszczelarska Wyspa Alina Bylicka for honey products and Robert Kaczkan for game food products.
The winners in both Grand Prix categories received, among others: vouchers worth PLN 3,000 to be used to purchase a stand at next year's Christmas Market. The prizes in the competitions were sponsored by: Gdańsk International Fair, Polfferies and the AmberSky Viewing Circle.
Illuminations lit up Gdańsk
We're starting Christmas in Gdańsk! The well-liked and appreciated action is back. It will illuminate even more places than last year thanks to over 160 light figures that can be admired in 13 locations in Gdańsk. From December 5, we can watch most of them. The illuminations will be with us until February 2, 2024.
Illuminations appeared in various compositions at Targ Węglowy and ul. Tkacka, in the Oliwski, Oruński, Kuźniczki and Jana Pawła II Parks, on the promenade in Brzeźno, Zielony Most and ul. Stągiewna. There is also no shortage of them on the Heweliusza and Kobzdej squares.
The illuminations feature over 160 figures, including both forms already known by residents and tourists, as well as new ones. For the first time in the Oliwa Park you can admire Floating Lilies. On the promenade in Brzeźno there is a port crane almost 8 meters wide, accompanied by the previously known shipyard cranes, 11 and 12 meters high. The sponsor of this light composition is the Port of Gdansk Authority. On the street A fairy-tale rocking horse was erected on Tkacka Street. You can pass through the Gate with a plant motif next to the Armory, and in the Oruński Park there are Lighthouses and a romantic, illuminated Bridge. Already at the entrance you are greeted by the Gate Illumination, which also appeared in Kuźniczki Park.
The mentioned figures create compositions and can be admired from December 5, when Christmas was officially launched! (earlier, the illuminations at the Christmas Market were lit, it was related to its opening on November 24). Together with the light compositions, the Christmas tree at Długi Targ also lit up.
Thanks to the popularity of the We Start Gdańsk campaign! and the interest of further sponsors, you will also find impressive single illuminations. On December 15, the following lights will be lit: the 6-meter-high Carillion - on the Young Poland Square, the inscription Solidarity - on the Road to Freedom and #GDN - Rybackie Pobrzeże. Three days earlier, the Baltic HUB Christmas tree at Stogi Square will be turned on.
It is worth adding that the well-known illuminations from previous years also attract sponsors. GPEC is the sponsor of a modern Christmas tree on Kobzdeja Square, GAiT, of course, sponsors the glowing bus and tram on Zielony Most and Stągiewna. GOT liked Lew Hewolion at Targ Węglowy, and the Gdańsk Airport. Lech Wałęsa, for obvious reasons, the air zone in the Park. John Paul II.
