The Christmas Market in Gdańsk will start on November 24. For four weeks, this event, considered one of the most beautiful in Europe, will put us in a beautiful, pre-Christmas mood. This year we are all celebrating in Gdańsk!
The fair town will be transformed again by Targ Węglowy, ul. Bogusławskiego, Tkacka and Zbrojownia to places full of pre-Christmas magic. The Foregate Complex will also be illuminated for the first time. From November 24 to December 23, the inhabitants of Gdańsk, the Tricity and tourists will fill them with joyful, festive noise. It is a traditional place for meetings, searching for original gifts and winter walks. The Christmas market has become the pre-Christmas showcase of Gdańsk, which was confirmed by, among others, European Best Christmas Markets 2023 plebiscite. 48 thousand Internet users voted it the second most beautiful in Europe.
– The fair in this place has already become a tradition that is liked not only by the inhabitants of Gdańsk who flock to the stands, but this event also attracts many tourists. We have already taken high places in several plebiscites, and the Fair is changing for the better every year - says Aleksandra Dulkiewicz , mayor of Gdańsk.
– We start in a week. There's a grand opening and parade on Saturday. Later, the illuminations will also light up. Not only here at Targ Węglowy, but throughout the city. In this time of darkness, each of us needs light and serenity, he adds.
Inspirations and gifts
According to research conducted during the last Christmas Fair, visitors eager to find gifts come to the Christmas town to get inspired and find unique, unique gifts.
The Fair, which starts on November 24, will meet these expectations. A special offer of crafts and handicrafts will appear at over 80 stands - 45 of which will be in the Armory. A special display case - "Christmas treasure trove of ideas" - will also have its premiere there . There, fair exhibitors will present the most interesting gift inspirations.
– We ask our guests what they are looking for during the Fair. That's why we know that in addition to good cuisine, these are gift inspirations. That's why we will provide inspiration and gifts that will be available for purchase at over 80 craft stands - says Paweł Orłowski , Vice-President of the Management Board of the Gdańsk International Fair.
The world of flavors
Over 60 Christmas stands will be filled with the flavors of various cuisines from around the world.
Family and social gatherings, so popular during the Christmas Market, will be able to take place with dishes from 17 countries and regions of the world. Among them we will find, among others: cuisines: Polish, Kashubian, Oriental, Crimean-Tatar and Hungarian. Sweets fans will not be indifferent to Dutch poffertjes, donuts, churros or jackets. Fans of savory flavors will be able to choose between: sprats in dough, baked chestnuts, dumplings, langos or raclette.
Hot chocolate or various types of tea infusions will raise the temperature. Gourmets will enjoy spiced, raspberry and orange mulled wine. They taste best in the original Christmas Market mug, which is perfect for all types of drinks. And most importantly, part of the proceeds from their sale will be donated to the Hospice Foundation.
Christmas Adventure Corner with AmberSky
New on the 2023 Christmas Market map is the Christmas Adventure Corner
with AmberSky. This is a special place where attractions dedicated to the youngest have been prepared: VR simulator Saint's Magical Sleigh. Nicholas, Gdańsk Carousel, Observation Wheel on Ołowianka and new this season: spinning coaster - Spinning Barrels. In the pre-Christmas rush, it is worth finding time for moments of joyful forgetfulness and fun with family and friends. One common ticket will make it easier to use all attractions.
The beginning of the adventure will probably be the spinning coaster debuting at the Fair. The structure of the Spinning Barrels has different heights - the track wraps in a figure of eight, on which the barrel wagons run. Additionally, the carriages rotate around their own axis at different speeds, depending on the number of passengers and their weight, which makes each journey unpredictable, exciting and provides new experiences.
The Gdańsk Carousel at Targ Węglowy will once again delight you with beautiful figures, decorations and lighting. Just before this year's Fair, a new, hand-painted version, created in an Italian factory, appeared. It moves smoothly and gracefully, although it is worth knowing that the whole thing weighs... 15 tons. 30 people can use the attraction at one time, and the ride lasts a few minutes.
Right next to the Carousel, the Saint's House will be waiting for fair guests.

Workshops for the youngest and Residents' Day
The Artistic Corner in the Armory will house the Saint's Studio.

The program is diverse and rich
This year's artistic program fills almost every day of the Fair. On Tuesdays, music fans will be able to listen to Christmas concerts. There will be: the Slavic Soul Christmas band, Gospel Carol Singing and Carol Singing with the GUMED Choir. On Wednesdays, visitors can grab the microphones and sing the most beautiful Polish and foreign Christmas hits during karaoke. On Thursdays, there will be surprises that will please the eye: the Fire Theater and Parady, as well as the ear: Reading fairy tales with the Wybrzeże Theater and the Provincial and Municipal Public Library. On Fridays, the organizers will invite little ones to animations with the Wyklejnik Academy of Fun and Education, and older children to an evening dance with Christmas DJ sets. On Saturdays, there will be a Christmas mix: performances by the Gdańsk Song and Dance Ensemble, Neptun and Winter Adventure with Treflik.
Traditionally, the Fair will be visited by St. Santa Claus and the official mascots of the event, Mr. and Mrs. Orzechowski, who are just waiting to take photos with visitors or record Christmas greetings. Sundays are time for loved ones.
Children and their parents will be able to watch performances and take part in animations performed by the Qfer Theater, listen to carolling with Carillon and have fun with Caritas, which will promote volunteering activities and the joy of sharing goodness.
From December 1, together with Wedel, we will invite you to open the windows of the Advent calendar, which will traditionally become part of the Advent gate.
Atmospheric decorations, stands with unique products and a rich artistic program, including creative workshops - all this will be organized by the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Gdańsk.
One of the unique houses of the Christmas Fair will be the house of the Gdańsk Tourist Organization - Saint's Gift Factory.
Nicholas, which will be located near the large "FAIR" sign at Targ Węglowy. Everyone who visits it will be able to buy attractive Gdańsk gifts, of course of a Christmas nature, but not only. There will also be a delicious surprise waiting in the house. There you will be able to purchase Tastes of Gdańsk project packages, available for 1, 2 and even 4 people. And that's not the end! GOT has prepared a competition for holders of the Gdańsk Resident Card. You can win fantastic prizes by scanning QR codes. The task will be to hunt for 10 "cubes" with codes and scan them. There are several new things this year, including: spinning coaster. We positioned it so that during the ride you could admire the panorama of the Fair at the same time - reveals Paweł Orłowski , Vice-President of the Management Board of the Gdańsk International Fair.
– We also wanted not to obscure the beautiful, renovated façade of the Wybrzeże Theater, which we wanted to expose to visitors. The Theater authorities also cooperate with us on the Fair program. Thanks to this, we will be able to hear our wonderful actress Dorota Kolak, who will read Christmas fairy tales. The fair helps
As every year, the Christmas Market invites you to take part in special and charity events. These will include the "Christmas Wardrobe", which will be used to exchange toys - a toycrossing campaign. The well-known bookcrossing shelf will appear in the Armory as part of a campaign organized in cooperation with the Provincial and Municipal Public Library.
The GPEC Group, together with Amberexpo, will collect funds for the Hospice Foundation. In the winter house of the GPEC Group you will be able to purchase tickets, the proceeds of which will be donated to the Foundation's beneficiaries. Tickets will entitle you to activate "Christmas Magic" with one button. Huge elves will help with this, and they will also pose in the beautiful Christmas scenery for a souvenir photo.
Hospice named after
Dutkiewicza in Gdańsk invites you to a unique charity concert: "Let's sing with Santa Claus for the Hospice Foundation", which will feature, among others,
artists from Cappella Gedanensis. There will also be a meeting with Santa Claus and elves in a singing atmosphere.
Smyk's "Misiowa Brama" will be built again in the Armory. At the end of the Fair, when purchasing fair mugs, you will be able to adopt a teddy bear. The funds from the purchase of the cups will be donated to the Hospice patients.

We're starting Christmas in Gdańsk!

It will illuminate even more places than last year thanks to over 150 illuminating figures that can be admired in 9 locations in Gdańsk from December 5, 2023 to February 2, 2024. There will also be no shortage of new products here. For the first time, floating lilies will appear in the Oliwa Park. On the promenade in Brzeźno there will be an almost 8-meter-wide port crane under the patronage of the Port of Gdańsk Authority. It will be accompanied by the previously known 11- and 12-meter-high shipyard cranes. On the street Tkacka marina Rocking horse. We will pass through the Gate with a plant motif next to the Armory, and in the Oruński Park we will find the Lighthouses and the illuminated Bridge. Right at the entrance, we will be greeted by the Gate Illumination, which will also appear in Kuźniczki Park. On the Square of the Young Poland Movement there will be a 6-meter-high Carillion, , the Road to Freedom will be lit by Solidarity, Rybackie Pobrzeże #GDN, and Stogi Square will be decorated with the BalticHub Christmas tree.
