    Gdańsk Museum

The Przedgate Complex of Długa Street

This is a unique place on the map of Gdańsk, which combines rich history with the magic of Christmas time. In the Gothic-Renaissance interiors of the Prison Tower and Torture Chamber, you can admire exhibitions showing the reconstruction of the city after the war and the history of this historic complex. During the Christmas Market, a visit here is an ideal opportunity to get to know the spirit of ancient and not so distant times. Currently, in the interior of the building managed by the Gdańsk Museum, the exhibition "Gdańsk more beautiful than ever" is presented. You will learn how Gdańsk changed after 1945, and to whom we owe the reconstruction of the city in its present shape.
The exhibition is for those who like climbing stairs! :)

The Przedbramia complex belongs to the Gdańsk Museum. This is just one of 10 unique, historical locations that together tell the story of the uniqueness of our city.

Long live Bahl! The (un)forgotten painter of Gdańsk

    • Main Town Hall, Palowa Gallery, ul. Długa 46/47
This is the first post-war monographic exhibition of the works of Reinhold Bahl (1869-1945), which managed to collect over 60 objects related to the work of the "doyen of Gdańsk painters. A student of Wilhelm August Stryowski, he continued his painting story about Gdańsk in the spirit of romantic realism, neatly mixing it with impressionistic innovations. A resident of Oliwa by choice, he was professionally associated with the State Craft Supplementary School in Gdańsk, located at ul. Great Mills. Modest and hard-working during his life, after his death he was almost forgotten by 20th-century art historians. The current exhibition restores his rightful place in the historiography of Gdańsk painters of the pre-war period.
    • From December 8 (Sunday)
    • Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays
