"Best Christmas Market in Europe 2025" in Gdańsk?
Two days before the start of the Christmas Market in Gdańsk, the Best Christmas Markets in Europe competition will begin. The voting, in which Internet users take part, will last until November 27. There are only 8 days to cast your votes - everyone can vote once a day from one device. The Christmas Market in Gdańsk took part in this competition twice - in 2020 it took 3rd place, while in 2022 it was 2nd in the ranking.
– The fair, apart from being a place of entertainment and good food, is also an important tool of the economic policy of our city and region. The event, which changes and develops every year, is, of course, intended to attract tourists, but it is also intended to be an attraction for the inhabitants of Gdańsk and Pomerania - says Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, mayor of Gdańsk.
– That's why I'm very happy that as a fair we are noticed by various international organizations. Today, I would like to encourage everyone to take part in voting for the most beautiful fair in Europe for 8 days, from November 20 to 27. We have already entered this competition twice and took third and second place. Now all we have to do is win our dream first place, but without the participation of all of us who will vote, it will not be possible.
The link to the competition can be found on the website: https://jb24.gda.pl, which will redirect you to a place where all the best European fairs will be listed. The only Polish representative on the list will be the Christmas Market from Gdańsk. Every vote counts towards winning the competition and awarding the Gdańsk event with the title of the best in Europe. Let's vote for Gdańsk and win these holidays together!
New items from the fair start at Bogusławskiego Street
This year's edition of the event brings several new features. The Christmas market in Gdańsk has been expanded to include another section of ul. Bogusławski. It will reach the height of the street. Ogarna. There will also be a traditional Advent Gate, the windows of which will be opened in a ceremonial manner from December 1-23. A light roof composed of 2,688 diodes will hang over the new part of the fair, covering an area of 100 m2. There will be fair catering houses under the "roof". This year, throughout the Fair, there will be as many as 20 different cuisines from around the world. You will be able to taste such dishes as: beef kebab from Lebanese cuisine, Mexican chili con carne, parmesan pasta from Italian cuisine, mutton from Uzbek cuisine, flatbread from German cuisine returning to the Fair, and Venezuelan arepas.
There will also be seafood in various forms - in tempura, in a sandwich (e.g. lobster) and fresh oysters. Of course, there will be plenty of beloved classics, such as Hungarian langosz, kolacz, Swiss raclette cheese, Spanish churros, German currywurst, as well as cinnamon and pistachio nuts.
There will be 198 stands at the Christmas Market. The exhibitors are dominated by merchants from Gdańsk and Pomerania.
Tastes of Pomerania
The regional aspect is always one of the most important assumptions of the Christmas Market in Gdańsk. It is visible not only among merchants, but also among special campaigns. Together with the Pomeranian Voivodeship Government, the organizers of the 2024 Christmas Fair in Gdańsk invite you to the Tastes of Pomerania. The new event will take place on November 22-24. The Tastes of Pomerania will include 26 stands with traditional, regional and ecological Pomeranian products, located in the Great Armory.
During the Fair, there will also be another stand with Pomeranian products of the National Center for Agricultural Support - branch in Pruszcz Gdański, where the #BuyConsciously campaign will also be promoted.
– We are also involved in this beautiful initiative and we would like the fair, which is located in the very heart of Gdańsk, to be the most beautiful fair in Europe – emphasized Mieczysław Struk, Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship.
– On the one hand, we have great Christmas traditions that are celebrated in our country and in Pomerania, and on the other hand, we would like to show the strength of the local economy, including Pomeranian flavors. More than 60% of the stands are from Pomerania. We will be able to taste what has been rooted in our tradition and the tradition of our families for many years here. Here you will find preserves, dishes and delicacies prepared by rural housewives' associations and village initiatives, I encourage you to taste them. And I will emphasize this once again and appeal to all residents of Pomerania to vote for our fair, which is the best in all of Europe.
Fair corners
The tradition of the Fair are its special corners. A new feature will be the Advent Corner on ul. Bogusławskiego, whose attractions will be the Advent Gate and the Roof of Light. However, the Angelic Corner will be moved to the Przedgate Complex, which will include: angel wing illumination, atmospheric lighting, and a gazebo for recording shadows - as an Instaspot, which will create a kind of shadow theater.
– 34 percent of the stands and 40 percent of the food at the fair come from Gdańsk, which is of great importance for the Gdańsk economy. Not only for the exhibitors, but for the entire city. The fair is a kind of tool that allows us to spread the tourist season throughout the year. For many years we had a high tourist season in July and August, but now it changes year to year. I think that many tourists will now come to Gdańsk to take advantage of both the offer of the Fair itself and the offer of Gdańsk hotels and restaurants, which will have a chance to stabilize employment and work throughout the year - says Piotr Grzelak, deputy president for sustainable development and investment.
The Armory of Art will also have a new look. Visitors will probably be delighted with the arrangement and scenography of the interiors, as well as the Christmas Room and the Factory. The Main Stage at Targ Węglowy will also be changed - there will also be a beautiful new set here. These places are included many times in the rich cultural program of the Christmas Fair, which is available on the fair's website.
– Shopping and Christmas gifts can only be done at the fair. You really won't find such gifts anywhere else. There will be plenty of craftsmen, artists, handmade products, beautiful baubles, fragrant soaps from Provence, wooden toys, and beautifully published books. Apart from gifts, of course, gastronomy. This year there are over 20 cuisines from around the world. In addition to Polish cuisine, the Fair will also feature Afghan, Lebanese, Italian and Argentinian cuisine. At these stands you will try Christmas delicacies from all over the world - said Dorota Solochewicz, manager of the Christmas Market.
Christmas town at Targ Węglowy, ul. Bogusławskiego, Tkacka, and in the Armory of Arts and Crafts are places where everyone can get inspired and find Polish, inflatable and hand-painted baubles, decorations made of wood and traditional tissue paper, and even baubles made of ostrich eggs. You will be able to see amber in many versions - as Christmas decorations, jewelry and design elements. Visitors will be charmed by unique ceramics and porcelain from Poland and abroad, hand-made glass lanterns, and Christmas tree decorations - traditional and modern. There will also be natural cosmetics and fragrant soy candles. You will also be able to buy colorful decorative gingerbread.
The fair also features Polish winter fashion designs, including unique woolen scarves and animal hats. And for our youngest, the merchants will take care of handmade toys, teddy bears and beautifully published books.
During the fair, there will be a magical Christmas Travel Corner with AmberSky. This special place will feature attractions dedicated to the youngest (and not only!): VR simulator Saint's Magical Sleigh. Nicholas, Gdańsk Carousel and spinning coaster - Wirowane Beczki. The area also includes the Observation Circle on Ołowianka.
Just behind the spinning coaster there will be a Fairy Tale Corner, where you will feel like a child. Beautiful, glowing figures will create a magical Christmas atmosphere - perfect for "posing" for photos.
At Targ Węglowy, visitors will also find the Amber Corner - a unique exhibition "Treasure Box of the Future / Capsule of the Future", which reveals to visitors a modern form of amber that can become a great Christmas gift.
In the heart of Targ Węglowy, visitors will find a gigantic gift, which they will be able to enter and create a unique family photo. The GPEC Group, together with the Hospice Foundation and AMBEREXPO, are preparing this magical place full of Christmas warmth to help those most in need. The photo can be personalized with a personal message to your loved ones, and the whole thing will be framed in a beautiful Christmas frame. All proceeds from this initiative will support the patients of the Hospice Foundation. Because this holiday is about the magic of helping.
It is worth recalling that, traditionally, the organizers of the Christmas Fair in Gdańsk will also provide support to the Hospice Foundation from part of the income from the sale of fair cups, which will be available in a refreshed version this year.
Stands available to visitors:
